Sales Paperwork Process
What we need from you
Everyone
- The buyer of the vehicle must be present in our office to sign the sales paperwork
Individuals
- A copy of your driver’s license (please inform us if there has been a change in address)
- Inorder to complete the Dealer Sales Tax form we will ask for your social then redact it on our copy of the form
Businesses
- Your business name and address
- In order to complete the Dealer Sale Tax Form we will ask for your EIN (FID) then redact it on our copy of the form
Payment
- Bank Check - Preferred
- Please make bank check payable to “Mongeon’s Auto”
- If you are financing the bank or credit union will give you a bank check to give to us
- Cash
- Cash payments over $10,000 require us to file federal form 8300
- Personal Check
- Titles will be held for seven days

Everyone
- Vehicle Title
- Purchase Agreement/Bill of Sale
- Dealer Sales Tax Form
- Odometer Disclosure Statement
- Federal Buyer’s Guide
- Service Contract (if applicable)
Rhode Island Customers
- TR-1 Form (Application for Registration and Title) (We can notarize if needed)
- Temporary plate and registration (if applicable)
Massachusetts Customers
- MA Registration and Title Application
- MVU-29 (Sales Tax Affidavit)
Connecticut Customers
- Connecticut Registration and Title Application H-13B
What the RI DMV will need
Refer to the document checklist from the RI DMV website (it is attached to the TR-1) but this is a simplified list for a new registration
- Vehicle Title
- Bill of Sale
- TR-1
- Valid Insurance
- Dealer Sales Tax Form
- RI license or ID
- VIN check if title is from out of state
Other Important Notes
MA customers - Do not sign the bottom of your registration and title application until you have your insurance sign their section
