Sales Paperwork Process

What we need from you

Everyone

  1. The buyer of the vehicle must be present in our office to sign the sales paperwork

Individuals

  1. A copy of your driver’s license (please inform us if there has been a change in address)
  2. Inorder to complete the Dealer Sales Tax form we will ask for your social then redact it on our copy of the form

Businesses

  1. Your business name and address
  2. In order to complete the Dealer Sale Tax Form we will ask for your EIN (FID) then redact it on our copy of the form

Payment

  1. Bank Check - Preferred
    1. Please make bank check payable to “Mongeon’s Auto”
    2. If you are financing the bank or credit union will give you a bank check to give to us
  2. Cash
    1. Cash payments over $10,000 require us to file federal form 8300
  3. Personal Check
    1. Titles will be held for seven days

What we provide you with

Everyone

  1. Vehicle Title
  2. Purchase Agreement/Bill of Sale
  3. Dealer Sales Tax Form
  4. Odometer Disclosure Statement
  5. Federal Buyer’s Guide
  6. Service Contract (if applicable)

Rhode Island Customers

  1. TR-1 Form (Application for Registration and Title) (We can notarize if needed)
  2. Temporary plate and registration (if applicable)

Massachusetts Customers

  1. MA Registration and Title Application
  2. MVU-29 (Sales Tax Affidavit)

Connecticut Customers

  1. Connecticut Registration and Title Application H-13B

What the RI DMV will need

Refer to the document checklist from the RI DMV website (it is attached to the TR-1) but this is a simplified list for a new registration

  1. Vehicle Title
  2. Bill of Sale
  3. TR-1
  4. Valid Insurance
  5. Dealer Sales Tax Form
  6. RI license or ID
  7. VIN check if title is from out of state

Other Important Notes

MA customers - Do not sign the bottom of your registration and title application until you have your insurance sign their section
